New Years Resolutions

OK, so by now there’s about a 99% chance that you have already dropped your New Year’s resolution for 2010.
Doesn’t it seem a bit strange to you that the prevalence of failed resolutions can be predicted almost as well as a formal math problem of 1 + 1 = 2? It’s a fact – people in our society fall prey to the same pitfalls over and over again. It continues to happen year after year regardless of how hard people try or how resolute folks claim to be on December 31st each year.
Have you ever stopped to think about this regular occurrence? Why might it be that resolutions are so hard to keep for the average person?
Here’s my take on the problem.
99% of the population simply do not aspire to live differently. The overwhelming majority of people are completely content with living a typical life in our society. C’mon – you know exactly what I’m talking about. Waking up for a JOB that you hate. Showering, grabbing a bite to eat (normally unhealthy food), opening your garage door, backing out your driveway, closing the garage door and driving to work. Once at work, you go through your day, drive home, open the garage door, park the car, close the garage door, and squeeze in a few minutes watching TV (and possibly chatting with your wife and children). Before you know it, it’s time to go to bed and then start the entire process over again the next morning.
Isn’t this pretty close to your life? The same ‘ole routine again and again. The same ‘ole habits, patterns, eating patterns, lack of exercise, poor eating, tired, frustrated, and stressed out.
Here’s the point.
For most, a New Year’s resolution is an opportunity for change. An opportunity to finally put your foot down that you are going to live differently this time. You’re not going to fall into that monotonous trap.
But in less than 2 weeks, you’ve given up. Why? Because living differently was too much. It’s just much easier to go back to the way that it was. To go back to the way that everybody else lives. Right?
If you’re sick and tired of the “same old stuff different day” mentality….than stick with us. We’re going to help you start to change your mind and give you a process to change your life. But right now, I’d like to challenge you.
YOUR CHALLENGE: Set aside just 10 minutes of quiet time. Grab a pen/pencil, a piece of paper, and your favorite beverage. Spend 10 minutes to brainstorm as many ways in which you fall into the trap of following society on a daily basis. Here’s a few “starters” for you: (1) eat fast food (2) drive to/from work everyday and shut my garage without engaging any neighbors (3) skip workouts. I’m sure that you can think of quite a few others. Once you’ve completed this challenge – be sure to post a comment below in this post!
Ultimate CXO Lifestyle
U-CXO Tidbit #1: “If you feel compelled to follow society at-large, simply look around to see what to expect of yourself”. Does this hit home for you personally? Do you find yourself frustrated at times because you hate your JOB? Lack energy and do not want to get out bed? Are fighting obesity yet simply cannot seem to find a way to shed those extra pounds? Have you ever really thought about the general population? Why is it that only the top 1% earn multi-millions in annual revenue? Why is it that you see very few people who are in shape? It’s simple. Because most folks live the standard life that produces mediocre (or less) results. Are you ready to live differently and product extraordinary results?
